As the seasons change and spring approaches, it’s the perfect time to refresh your home and bring in a breath of fresh air.

A breath of fresh air doesn’t have to mean buying all new spring decor though…

Decorating your space for spring doesn’t have to break the bank. In fact, there are plenty of easy and budget-friendly ideas that can instantly transform your home into a vibrant and inviting space.

Sometimes you can even create “new” decor out of pieces you already have or by doing a little outdoor forging.

Just in case you, too, don’t want to spend a fortune on new home decor pieces, I thought I would share some of my favorite free and budget friendly finds with you.

Spring Home Decor Ideas

Here are my favorite 10 easy and budget-friendly spring decorating ideas that will breathe new life into your interior without draining your wallet.

Incorporate Spring Flowers

10 Easy Budget Spring Decorating Ideas

After a dreary and dark Winter there is nothing I love more than bringing in fresh and colorful blooms.

Incorporating fresh or faux spring flowers and plants into your home decor is a wonderful way to bring a touch of nature indoors and add a vibrant, organic element to your space.

Position your plants strategically throughout your home to create a harmonious and balanced look. Place larger plants in corners or as focal points, while smaller plants can be grouped together on shelves, tables, or window sills.

Some popular spring bloom options are; tulips, daffodil, lily flowers, bluebell, hyacinth, and allium. Another option is to incorporate greenery stems for a fresh but simple look.

Swap Out Heavy Curtain Fabrics

10 Easy Budget Spring Decorating Ideas

Swapping out heavy curtains for sheer or light fabrics is a great way to brighten up a space and let in more natural light during the spring season.

Sheer or light fabrics allow sunlight to filter through, creating a soft and ethereal ambiance in the room. This can make the space feel more open, inviting, and refreshing, perfect for the spring season.

Heavy curtains can block out natural light and make a room feel dark and closed off. By opting for sheer or light fabrics, you can maximize the amount of sunlight that enters the room, making it feel brighter and more cheerful.

Incorporate Pastel Colors

spring decorating ideas for the home

Using pastel colors in interior design is a popular choice for creating a light and airy atmosphere in a space. Pastel colors are soft, muted hues that are often associated with springtime and evoke feelings of calmness, serenity, and freshness.

Decorative accessories such as throw pillows, rugs, curtains, and artwork in pastel tones can help tie the color scheme together and enhance the light and airy feel of a room. Mix and match different pastel shades to create a cohesive and harmonious look.

Flower vases are another easy way to incorporate pastels into your spring home decor. Thrift stores are a great place to find cheap vases that can be easily transformed into spring themed vases with a little spray paint.

Add Different Textiles

Experimenting with different textures like wicker, rattan, or linen can add depth and visual interest to your home decor, creating a breezy and relaxed vibe perfect for the spring season.

Adding wicker pieces to your space can bring a touch of organic warmth and texture. Consider incorporating wicker chairs, baskets, or side tables for a casual and inviting feel.

Rattan furniture often features a distinctive woven pattern that adds a tropical and laid-back vibe to any room. Consider adding rattan chairs, headboards, or light fixtures to infuse your space with a touch of natural elegance.

Incorporating linen textiles such as curtains, throw pillows, or bedding can instantly elevate the comfort and sophistication of your space. Linen’s airy and relaxed look is perfect for creating a serene and inviting atmosphere in your home. Opt for light, pastel colors or earth tones to complement the spring season.

Swap Out Pillow Covers and Blankets

Spring bedding

A simple swap like changing out pillow covers and blankets can easily get your home spring ready on a budget.

Consider incorporating seasonal accents like floral embroidery, tassels, or pom-poms on your throw pillows and blankets to enhance the spring theme. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different patterns and textures to create visual interest. Combine floral prints with stripes or check print for a playful and eclectic look.

Layering throw blankets over the back of a sofa or chair can add warmth and texture to the space. Choose lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen for a spring-appropriate feel. I also love swapping out the quilt at the end of our bed to incorporate spring there too.

Spring No-Sew Pillow Cover

Pillow covers don’t have to be expensive either, here are some of my favorite budget friendly Amazon pillow cover finds. Or you can go the DIY route and make your own pillow cover out of something as simple as a tablecloth. Check out how I made this one with this simple no-sew technique.

Spring Art Prints

Adding spring wall decor to your home is a great way to add character and personality to your space. The best part is you don’t have to be an artist to add beautiful artwork to your home.

I ordered these spring landscape canvases from Amazon and they were super budget friendly. You can find a lot of canvas art and prints on a budget online.

Another option is to print off art at home and frame it yourself! Check out our free VIP prints gallery for some great choices. You can print them at home or send them to your local, UPS, CVS, or OfficeMax and have them print them for you. I have even DIY-ed my own wooden frames before for a more custom look.

Setting a Spring Table

Add a touch of spring to your table by creating a simple spring tablescape.

Start by selecting a color palette that reflects the freshness and vibrancy of spring. Pastel shades like soft pinks, blues, greens, and yellows are popular choices, but you can also incorporate brighter hues like coral or mint for a more modern look.

Create a focal point for the table with a seasonal centerpiece such as a bouquet of fresh flowers, a potted plant, or a decorative vase filled with spring blooms. Consider incorporating elements like candles, decorative eggs, or small bird figurines to enhance the spring theme.

Bring the outdoors in by incorporating natural elements like woven placemats, wooden chargers, or fresh greenery into the table setting. Consider using botanical prints or floral motifs in your table decor to further enhance the springtime feel.

Up Your Spring Candle Game

Adding spring candles to your home decor can be a wonderful way to enhance the ambiance and bring a touch of seasonal charm to your living space.

Opt for candles with fresh, floral, or fruity scents that evoke the essence of spring. Scents like lavender, jasmine, citrus, or green tea can help create a refreshing and uplifting atmosphere in your home.

Consider using decorative candle holders that complement your spring decor theme. You can choose holders in pastel colors, floral patterns, or natural materials like wood or ceramic to enhance the visual appeal of your candles.

Go a step further and add accessories like candle rings, decorative stones, or dried flowers around the base of the candles. These sweet additions can add texture and interest to your candle displays.

I found these really beautiful flameless candles on Amazon that are perfect for spring and easter decor. The best part about these is that you can set them on a timer so you don’t have to run around and turn them on every evening. The flicker is also the most realistic looking one I have found so far!

If you want to dress up plain candles on a budget, grab some craft paper with a spring pattern and simply wrap them around the candles. This is such an easy and fun way to add a touch of spring to your home decor.

Make a Spring Simmer Pot

Creating a spring simmer pot is a wonderful way to bring the fresh scents of the season into your home.

You can mix citrus fruits like lemon, lime, or orange with your choice of fresh or dried herbs like rosemary and thyme. Adding spring flower petals is another way to enhance the look and smell of your simmer pot.

I have a bunch of easy simmer pot recipes that you can find here!

Here is my go-to spring simmer pot recipe:

  • 5 Fresh Thyme Sprigs
  • 3 Slices of Grapefruit
  • 1 Lemon cut into slices
  • 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp 5-Pepper Blend Peppercorns
  • Add 5 cups Water to Simmer Pot

This recipe supposedly makes your home smell like a Williams Sonoma store in spring. I don’t know if that’s true, but it does smell amazing!

Add a Spring Wreath

Adding a spring wreath to your front door is a simple yet impactful way to welcome the season and add a touch of charm to your home’s exterior.

Opt for wreaths featuring spring flowers like tulips, daisies, lavender, or cherry blossoms, as well as greenery like eucalyptus or ferns. Add embellishments to your wreath that reflect the season, such as decorative eggs for Easter or a small bird’s nest for a whimsical touch. These elements can enhance the overall theme of your spring decor.

You can DIY your own spring wreath with this full proof method. Or you can purchase one like this UV resistant lavender wreath.

One little trick I do to all my wreaths is spray them with ScotchGard water protector to keep them looking fresh and protect them from the elements.
